It really is as awesome as it sounds. I just used it after a fresh install of Win7 on my laptop and automated everything. |

Wow. Can you pre-configure custom install paths? I despise the "Program Files" landfill. |

Unfortunately, you can't really customize anything. It pretty much just automates all of the program installs with defaults. I have to ask, though, what's the problem with Program Files? |

It violates his DOS roots. |

It's utterly unorganized. It's the most preposterously "flat" organizational structure known to man, short of just installing everything to the root directory. I despise directories whose scroll bars are microscopic, and require pages and pages of scrolling to find what you're looking for, which Program Files invariably turns into. It's my goal to make those appear as deep, and ill-frequented (like the actual guts of an individual program's file structure, in some \bin\ directory or whatever) as possible. |

How much stuff do you install on your computer? I have never had more than two columns of directories and they don't even scroll. Also, why do you even need to scroll when you can type in whatever you need to get there quickly :p Different strokes, I suppose. |

Necropost, just used this, and it is so amazing. Saved me at least an hour, probably more, of hunting down and installing all my apps. |

Just used this myself last night, and it definitely is 100% worth it. I was shocked at fast it downloaded and installed everything. No reboot required! |

Just a suggestion (I think the sticky is a great idea). Maybe we could create a single consolidation thread.. a 'best of tech' type of thing, where we can put stuff like this? |

Midgen wrote: Just a suggestion (I think the sticky is a great idea). Maybe we could create a single consolidation thread.. a 'best of tech' type of thing, where we can put stuff like this? Get to it, moderator! And once it's done and you've linked to this thread, split these posts into a separate thread. |

heh.. well, I kinda thought that should be something that was done by popular opinion, rather than moderator mandate. Besides, I haven't received my certification/sign-off on thread consolidation yet! :p~~ And lastly (since excuses come best in threes), I was really only adding a suggestion to what Lenas was already doing. I didn't want to steal his thunder. I've had similar thoughts about all of the stickies in General though. I'll look there and see if there is some consolidation that can be done. |

Looking around, I found that this isn't the only service that does this. There's also AllMyApps, which seems to have a wider selection of software (with a few exceptions) and -- as far as I can tell -- doesn't appear to have any restrictions on its use other than that you can't re-sell the AllMyApps software itself. Otherwise it appears to be free for commercial use, and you're allowed to redistribute it all you want. |
