WORST PROGRAM EVER!!!!

8 years ago it rocked.

Got it for my birthday, installed it yesterday, and now the sound on my computer does not work at ALL. Somehow the program is overriding all of my drivers and the USB mic & headphones work ONLY WITHIN the program itself and I cannot play any other sounds.

The only thing left to do is uninstall the stupid program and reinstall all of my drivers. And you can't return software.

This is bs.

....ok so apparently, all I have to do is uninstall every sound device and restart the computer....every time I want to switch from Music Maker 5 to my regular computer activity....

Workaround found! :D

Yeah, I haven't used cakewalk in many years either. Glad to hear I'm not missing anything.

Sonar is their flagship program....what are you using it for? You might have better luck with something else.

Well, if you don't need multiple tracks or anything fancy and just want a simple 1 track recording of guitar/singing, you can try Audacity. It's free and very simple. There is a full featured DAW out there called "Reaper" that is free as well. I believe the demo has full functionality....I haven't used it in a long long time so that may have changed...but it's worth looking in to!

Wow, I checked out reaper. http://www.reaper.fm The demo works with full functionality for 30 days, then you need a 60 dollar license (for non-commerical use). That is an incredible deal as anyone who has used DAW software knows. Their development mantra is excellent as well, no crapware packaged in, no obtrusive USB key BS copy protection scheme. I may download this and see how it works with my midi/audio hardware, thanks for the tip nev!

I have been out of town all week but that sounds awesome!!! I wish I had known about this before I asked for cakewalk for my birthday. Sad, sad...well, maybe I can wait until I can do some mad frantic recording and get it all done in 30 days before it expires! Thanks dude!

Cool! Hope it works for ya.

Don't ask me for help with that, though, cause I've never used the program! I hear nothing but great things about it, though.

Please go buy it and become an expert just in case I have any questions. Thanks in advance! :D

Just downloaded reaper. It's amazing. Every control is mousewheel context sensitive, I got a quick mix of 12 tracks in one song in about 30 minutes. Great program. Right now it's looking like a purchase for sure.
