So I have two desktop machines. My old one (NEWCHODE - Windows 7 Home) and my new one (CHODEPRO - Windows 7 Pro). I use the same login name on both machines but do not have passwords set up on them. I want to share out the whole C:\ on NEWCHODE. I thought it was possible to do this without having to use passwords. I did it on my XP machine. In any case, I have the share on NEWCHODE set up to give everyone Full Control. But when I try to access it from CHODEPRO I get the message: This is how I have the share set up on NEWCHODE: Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Edit: I was wrong, I get the message saying its unavailable even when I try to share individual folders via the homegroup. |

What do the NTFS permissions look like? Also, can you access it with "\\newchode\c"? |

I had to actually turn on Password Protected Sharing. Not sure why this mattered but it did the trick. |

Thanks for the update. Interesting. I'll file it away in my "advice for home users" mental drawer. |

I think the better question is why shouldn't it be named Chode? |
