In a couple of days PS3 owners will finally be able to play games in 3D. That is, if they meet a couple of requirements: 1) Own a 120hz tv. 2) Own shutter-lense glasses with an IR emitter (unless emitter is built-in to tv) 3) Own compatible games (Super Stardust HD, Wipeout HD, Pain, more soon) I currently only meet the last of the three criteria, but I've been thinking of getting the other two. If I sell my 27" monitor and 42" TV I'd probably get around $7-900, which would make the purchase of a $989 TV and $200 3D kit much easier to swallow. Anyone else looking into it? Update I was doing more research into the DLP 3D TV's and I found out they don't require third party emitters. All new DLP TV's and Projectors have tech built-in called DLP-Link. You buy a special set of glasses and they recognize a pattern the TV puts out, and that's how they sync. No setup required, they're just supposed to automatically detect eachother and go at it. |

Nope. Not interested, I'll wait until the most egregious of the bugs are out and the third generation of it is released, say, around Christmas. |

It's not exactly a new technology Mike, it's just finally making the way into consumer homes. |

Yes, but I'm not even HD ready, don't own a PS3, a 120hz television, or the glasses, nor do I own any of the games. By Christmas, I will have a new TV, may have bought a PS3, may be waiting for PS4, and will seriously look at the 3D stuff. Right now, its too much all at once. And there will be bugs. |

I think I'll be waiting for a little while until the standards settle out for a bit...it's difficult to keep on buying a new TV every 5 years when they come out with something new. First it was high def...then it was flat...now it's 3D. It's bad enough getting a new videogame system every 5 years, but at least that is tolerable....a good sized TV is much more expensive. In my opinion TVs should have a lot more lasting power than they currently do...though it is nice to have all this new tech. I'll wait a bit. |

It'd be nice if I were making 6 figures but until then (which won't happen anyway) I'll continue to leave the newest TV technologies to those richer or more televisionly-inclined than myself. More power to you if you're one of those, however! I once used a TV with scratches all over the center for a few months, even... :p but you actually couldn't tell unless it was a solid color in the middle of the TV! I was surprised at that, being dismayed when I saw the TV after the move, but it was a very welcome surprise. |

I thought the point of Lenas's post is that you don't need one of the new 3D sets coming out, you only need a 120hz tv? I don't have one of the new 3D sets either, but my LCD is 120. |

I'll be passing on this. There are enough sources of headaches in this world already to add 'gaming' to the list (I haven't seen a 3D movie yet either). |

I have a PS3, but I passed on getting a 120hz tv. From my experience with 3D so far, I'm not very interested in it. Having to wear two pairs of glasses is uncomfortable, and my eyesight is bad enough that I can't skip wearing my prescription glasses. |

I thought they were sized pretty well, I wear them over my prescription and they're not uncomfortable. |

I wonder how well my new 60" DLP tv is going to fit in my room :p |

There's nothing more annoying to me than 3D movies. I definitely won't be getting a 3D enabled TV, even after the bugs are worked out. It's all a gimmick in my opinion. |

I won't be doing this. I lack depth perception and can not really see 3D effects. |
