A little while ago there was a topic that contained a discussion the merits of the bigger hard drive on the newer 360 boxes. One of the advantages was to be able to install a game and run it off the hard drive without the CD. Is there a trick to doing that? I installed a game last night and went to attempt to run it off the drive and got the message to insert the game CD. I thought the idea was not to use the disk drive and so end up with a quieter system. What did I miss? |

You can't. You still need to have the DVD in the drive when you play (for DRM purposes). Once the game is launched it will play off of the hard drive, but you still need the DVD in the drive. |

This is what prevents you from installing the game and selling it right away while still being able to play. |

Yup, what you do benefit is much less wear and tear on your DVD drive (it's quieter, no giant disc noise), and faster load times. So still worth it. |
