I am looking for a list of some good apps. I have already downloaded: Battlenet Mobile Authenticator Tricorder Solitaire Google Sky ScanLite Foursquare IMDB Fandango Advanced Task Killer I am looking for some other cool ones, such as a WoW Armory and stuff. Any suggestions? I already have the US Constitution on my iPod, as well as The Federalist Papers and Wealth of Nations, Common Sense and The Prince. |

Here are some I have installed. Some get more use than others. Handcent (SMS Replacement interface - 6 stars) MLB At Bat 2010 (following M's games when I'm not able to watch) Nook Reader (or Kindle) Local TV News Station Apps (KIRO TV, etc..) On Track (diabetes, and other health stat tracking and reporting) Opera Mini/Skyfire/Dolphin Web Browsers (all have features I like, haven't settled on one yet) Pandora Radio USAA (Banking) Weight Journal (logging body weight) Woot Watcher (daily woot.com sales alerts) I have a few others that are vibrant specific. If you have Android 2.1 (Live Wallpapers), Beatiful Widgets Weather Home widget is pretty cool, but don't get far from a charger, as it's a battery killer. There are some app/task manager apps making the rounds. I have a hard time recommending any of the ones I've tried, as they are difficult and time consuming to manage (I'd be interested to know if anyone has found one that is simple to set up and won't kill apps you don't want dead, like email, calendar, alarm, sms, etc...) |

and can I set MP3's as a ringtone? |
Author: | Mookhow [ Sat Aug 14, 2010 9:05 am ] |
Post subject: | Re: Android Apps? |
I recommend Ringdroid for your ringtone needs. It will allow you to take an mp3, optionally crop it to a smaller clip, and set it to your ringtone or notification sound. You can do that manually in the settings, but Ringdroid makes it easier. Other apps/games I have: Bluetooth File Transfer Bonsai Blast (Game) Connectbot (ssh client) Droid Armory Dropbox Gameboid (GBA emulator) Google Translate Jewellust (gem matching game, not a clone of Bejeweled) KeepassDroid (password safe) Kindle Magic TG Tracker Movie Finder Pandora Queueman (Netflix queue manager) (Google) Scoreboard (sports scores) Shazam (listens to music and identifies songs) Shopsavvy (scans a upc barcode and looks up prices on the internet and locally) Sudoku Free The Weather Channel WordUp! (Game like Boggle) WordWise Free (2 player online Scrabble game) WoW Remote Auction House |

darksiege wrote: would android 2.1 be the firmware? My firmware is 2.1 update 1, kernel version 2.6.29 Yes, that is the version of Android. There ae three commonly used versions. Android 1.6 (Donut) is running on older phones, and likely wont get upgraded if it hasn't already (there may be some exceptions). Android 2.0/2.1 (Eclair), which most 'current' phones are releasing with, and then Android 2.2 (Froyo). Android 3 is rumored to be coming out this fall, and will likely accompany the new multi-core HSPA+ smartphone releases. Here is a good article on the Android OS and the various versions w/features http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system) One word of note: Features can vary from handset developer to handset developer (HTC, Samsung, etc...), and from provider to provider (AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon/Sprint), depending on the hardware capabilities, etc... My Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) came with some sweet apps, including the movie Avatar, which is plays and looks great, and it has HDMI out. There is also a Car Home app, and a Desk Home app, which have skins optimizing the interface for use in a Car Dock or Desk Dock (if Samsung will ever actually release them). When shopping for an Android Phone, especially if you aren't springing for the latest/fastest/biggest model, i would recommend comparing features using the page I linked above. |

Perhaps a visit to your optometrist is in order Vindi? Next month is my annual check-up. I'm sure the prescription will change this year. |

I installed this Tapatalk thing on the forum. I set the board as "Search Only" so you'll need to look for it by name. If I have any issues with it being integrated, I'll remove it. |

I am "not a good candidate" for that surgery. Otherwise I would have done it years ago. |

Had mine done about seven years ago. Couldn't recommend it strongly enough. My wife, sadly, was too scared (even though the Doc was a corneal replacement specialist) and still hasn't had it done. |

20/15 after my laser surgery about...8ish years ago I think. Totally worth the 4 weeks of annoyance, itchy eyes, and not being able to drive anywhere... |

"ESPN Radio" is $5. Pretty decent app for sports news updates, and listening to live talking heads, or podcasts of the previous shows. |

found an awesome free app called 'multicon' that allows several icons to fit in the space of a single normal sized icon... I now have Fancy Widget (the HTC time/weather widget) and 32 separate icons on my main homescreen. YAY for overload of ****! row 1: gmail, MMS/SMS, IM, Googlt Talk, Sprint Navigation, Camera, ringdroid, market row 2: contacts, phone, VM, Google Voice, flashlight, settings, calendar, password keeper row 3: google sky, solitaire, shopsavvy, scanlife, youtube, music, facebook, foursquare row 4: battlenet mobile authenticator, armored, tricorder, ontrack, sprint nfl, sprinttv, fandango and imdb. I still need to check out some of the SMS/MMS replacement apps. And are there any that will toggle on and off your wifi settings? Oh and is there any way to uninstall that retarded **** Moxier email client for syncing with an exchange server? |

Midgen wrote: Woohoooo! Posting from my vibrant using tapatalk!!! Thanks Mook! Do I need the full version of Tapatalk to post? I think I tried to post a reply to a thread earlier today and it didn't work. I only have the demo version of the Tapatalk, so that might be it, or I might have something set up wrong. |

I think the free version allows reading only. I've had the "Pro" version for quite a while (through several android phones) because several of the guitar forums I frequent use them. Edit: Here are the community forums for the app. There is a section for Forum Owners (mods) there that might interest you. http://www.tapatalk.com/forum/index.php Nuther Edit: Here is the FAQ: http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin.php --Forum plugin is free --There are two version of the app. The paid version costs $2.99. Both paid and free versions are available via the usual sources for Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Nokia. WinMo folks are out of luck, unless the devs decide to support WP7 at a later date. |
