Figured I might toss this up here since I've exhausted just about all of my other options.

I'm basically trying to figure out a way to reduce a video's file size without horribly destroying it's quality. The original uncompressed files are MPEG-4 720P video files.

My goal is to reduce the file size to make them much more manageable when uploading.

Any help would be appreciated.

H.264 Quicktime MOVs are my preferred compression, but H.264 MPEG-4s are the best for web, particularly if you're shooting for an end-use file type. Great file size, great quality.

MPEG Streamclip is a great tool for compression. Download it, VLC, and a bunch of codec packs to give you more options, but the trick with codecs is making sure your intended audience has the right tools for playback...which is a pain. Stick to the big ones, and H.264 is the standard.

The intended audience will typically be for uploading it to my youtube channel.

Thanks for the reply Farsky. I'll take a look.
