I am encountering this awesome bug where my local contacts will not display unless I sync with a gmail account. Sprint Store and Sprint support have both been useless. I looked at a few forums while the Sprint chick on the phone wasted my time... an hour of it. And found this is apparently a bug in 2.1, it was not present in earlier versions of Android. Is there anywhere I can find a full list of bugs in the Android software? I am about ready to bring this **** phone back to Sprint before my initial 30 days is up... ***EDIT*** And here is another bug... intermittently the device will tell me that it cannot send a text to someone, instead telling me to use the 10 digit phone number, or the authorized short access code... but if I type the number in manually it sends with no issues. |

After considerable discussions with Sprint tech support and a Sprint rep in a store; it has been decided that the Moment is not the phone for me. I will be returning the device and going with the Intercept. Which will be getting Froyo within the next few months. |

Wonder if those are 2.1 specific issues or specific to the phone you have cause I didn't encounter either of those issues on my phone when it was on 2.1, though I admittedly didn't have 2.1 on it for very long at all before 2.2 was pushed out for my phone. |

Yeah, I'm beginning to tap my foot waiting for my Froyo update, too. =) I think phone manufacturers (and cell providers) have a definition of "soon" that rivals Valve's. |

I do not know enough about the OS to root it. I do not want to risk doing such things since it is not like iPhone and jailbreaking now being okay. |

Seriously, you REALLY have to try hard to brick your phone. If you get SPRecovery installed, you don't ever have to worry about wrecking it. It allows you to create a back-up of your phone in it's current state. So even if your phone boot-loops, you can still reach recovery mode and restore your good config. Seriously - I was afraid of doing it. I then discovered just how hard it was to FUBAR it. |

The problem with rooting android phones... at least the popular (to root) models, is that there are so many iterations of firmwares out there. It's easy to get a bad combination of radio firmware, versus core OS, vs bundled apps, that aren't quite compatible.. and once you go down that road, there is no going back (like DS just did) to get the provider to help with resolution... I rooted my N1, and eventually ran into some issues with firmware compatibility (as I described). About that time, the Galaxy S/i9000/Vibrant came out, and I picked one up. It doesn't have 2.2 on it yet, but I'm going to be patient and wait for the 2.2 OTA to come out before I risk rooting it. |

This isn't true. You can ALWAYS restore back to stock without the provider knowing you changed. I did this originally with my first install of 2.2. I downloaded the 2.0 stock .spf and installed it. It wiped not just the data but SPRecovery off as well. I then downloaded the OTA 2.1 update, installed, downloaded 2.2 update, and installed. |

I would like to say that I completely DO NOT recommend Sprint based on the customer service I am receiving from them. **** them, right in their stupid ears. |
