Is the domain drop down box/choice a group policy setting? I have a machine (with a particular user) that keeps reverting to local machine instead of staying on the correct domain choice. |

on XP its the last domain logged into unless its specifically set to log into a default domain-- A. To set the default domain each time you log on, perform the following steps: Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe). Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon subkey. Double-click DefaultDomainName (or create this value of type String if it doesn't exist), and set the value to the preferred domain. Double-click AltDefaultDomainName (or create this value of type String if it doesn't exist), and set the value to the preferred domain. Close the registry editor. |

Also, here's an article on hacking your own GPO setting that will do this for you domain-wide if you ever have need for such a thing: http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/47055/how-can-i-use-a-group-policy-object-gpo-to-set-the-default-logon-domain.html That's odd, though. Like TheRiov said, standard behavior is for the login domain to be "sticky". |

I THINK default Vista login is to log into the domain the PC is a member of. (ie if you you have 7 trusted domains, and 1 domain the pc is a member of, then the pc should default to logging into the domain its a member of, rather than local login or any of the trusted domains. Not 100% sure on that though.) |
