to root my android. Trying to find info specifically for my phone is a daunting task. I am finding some, but it all seems rather intimidating to start out. |

I just used Odin to root my Vibrant. Running 2.3 smooth as a baby's behind... I was in no hurry to do it, but after 4 months waiting for some GPS and other fixes, and a couple of co-workers successfully running the 2.3 rom, I decided to give it a try. It's been a week now, and I'm pleased so far. |

Well first, check to see if RSD Lite installs on your phone. The advantage of that is two-fold: 1) This will let you create full back-ups of your phone the way it is (not counting boot-loader but that don't matter for what you want to do). 2) It removes the necessity to root because you can then just download ROM's that are already rooted. When you do start loading custom ROM's, look into Titanium Back-up. It will basically back up all your apps and their settings and let you restore them after you load a new ROM. I bought the "donate version" and I can restore all of my apps after a new ROM with just a couple button presses. Very nice. |
