The only thing I am trying to figure out...

Windows 7 Home Premium, is there a 64 bit software and a 32 bit software or is it on the same disk and will just install as whichever I choose during installation/based on hardware?

I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that it's the same disk. Otherwise at stores they would have to sell two different versions which would be pretty ridiculous and would confuse a lot of people.

Retail versions of Windows 7 have both the 32 and 64 bit version on them, but 1 key, the product key will only allow you to activate 1 of them, I.E If you activate 64 bit and go back and try to activate 32bit wont work, they want another key.

OEM versions not 100% sure on

hrm... pricing a system out... it would cost me roughly $900. But when I look at a few sites, I could buy a system for about $1000...

So it may be worth my while to just buy a system and get a warranty.

Generally is these days. Really the reason to build your own is:

1) you enjoy it
2) you want specific high performance parts in it

If you don't care about those, you can usually find a deal on a box for cheaper than you could build one, especially when you take the warranty into account. I'm still a builder, because I fit both of those qualifications. :)

I want to build, just to keep in practice; but the warranty would be nice.

Oh and Dell laptops can now suck on all of the removed foreskins from the years 1976 to current. I will never buy another dell
