Looking for a laptop to install Gentoo on.

Going to use it primarily for programming and internet, so I don't need anything fancy graphics or audio related.

At least 15" screen and 4 gigs of RAM. Good wifi capability.

Durability / quality of hardware and good battery life are priority.


What are the good brands?

We use HP's and Lenovo's for our 'corporate' laptops, with the more recent purchases leaning towards the Lenovo's.

They aren't perfect, but one attraction is they have lots of accessories like docking stations, etc... and they are nothing if not tanks (durable).

My current favorite is actually a Toshiba R835, but it doesn't meet you screen size requirements or budget.I love this thing. Light, fast, awesome battery life...
