Mine is dying, a Logitech G500 that has always been a little small for my hand. I've installed new drivers, the problems persist. Sluggish, drop and drag won't, game controls are slow. Recommendations? |

I'm thinking more can be improved by changing stuff about the computer than anything about the mouse, unless going to a wired mouse eliminates the bad behavior. If you just want mouse recommendations, I think the Logitech darkfield laser mice are the schnitz. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/349/6135 |

I recently bought the Steel Series Xai to replace my old Microsoft Intellimouse that was malfunctioning. I struggled for a long time to find a mouse that I felt could compete with the Intellimouse, but I've been very happy with the Xai. Yes, it's very expensive (90$). I'm not sure yet if it's worth the money, I think that will depend on how durable it is and how long it lasts. But I really love the feel, even more so than my old mouse. The tracking is great (it's a "gaming" mouse after all, with a high dpi) and its special feature (and I guess the reason it costs so much) is that you change all your settings (like sensitivity, speed, etc) on the mouse itself, so you don't have to rely on Windows to interpret/adjust your mouse input. I guess that's supposed to provide some sort of advantage for gaming, but it might just be BS. But anyway, I still really like it. I've finally found a mouse with the shape and layout that I'm used to. It's very comfortable. And it's also lightweight. When searching for a new mouse, I realized I'm what they call a "claw gripper." I hold my mouse with my thumb and pinky while the rest of my hand hovers above it. Instead of moving my whole hand, I just flick the mouse around with those two fingers. The Xai is perfect for this style. It's probably not what you're looking for, but I decided to post this on the off chance that you (or someone else reading this) has similar problems with most modern mice. I was looking for a modern replacement for my Intellimouse for years. |

Not sure if you ever get sore wrists or forearms when using a mouse for prolonged periods. If you do, I would strongly recommend acquiring one of these. They do have a learning curve, but it's not as bad as most people think. Once you get used to one, however, you will have a hard time going back to a standard mouse. I am very proficient with both trackball and regular mouse and there pros and cons to both. When I am not needing to get sniped headshots at pinpoint accuracy and blazing speeds, I prefer my trackball. I use it all day on my work's laptop and since this is a wireless mouse it makes for the perfect laptop companion. As it truly is a "every surface" peripheral. A single AA battery will give it 1.5 year's worth of life. Some people didn't like how rough they feel right out of the box. And then they return them. I can attest that if one were to press a little firmly down on the ball, give it a good rolling for several seconds, it clears it right up. Once the new plastic is worked over, it's as smooth as silk moving it around. I have converted many people to these things by asking them to give them a fair chance. They are very comfortable and extremely nice to your wrist and arm. My entire family (mother and stepfather included) swear by them after I first introduced it years ago. My wife in particular was resistant, but her wrist kept hurtning her. So I forced one upon her. Now she uses only that, and bought a second one for her laptop. |
