The Glade 4.0 :: View topic - I hate my internet. Can't access some websites

A few weeks ago, I posted that my ping had been incredibly high during the hours of 3pm and 2am. That problem has gone and my online gaming is zooming along now at normal speeds. Tonight, however...there was a brief period of time that I could not browse any web site at all. Zero. It would endlessly try to load the page, but all I got was a white screen with a 0% loading bar. Strange thing was, I could ping the websites I was trying to visit. So, I rebooted my router/modem, I released and renewed the router/modem IP address and nothing. Eventually, I could get to all websites.

A few hours later, certain sites stopped loading. Thankfully, I can still access this one. But I can't access other websites I normally visit(the most important being the Bioware social website). I've tried a google search, but none of the results will load. I get the list(google being a site I can access) but when I click on a link, nothing. Again, I can ping them with no problems. They just won't load on Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Are you pinging by IP address or using DNS resolution?

Ah, yep. I was going to suggest DNS but assumed that when you said you pinged google you actually did a "ping google.com" which meant it did name-resolve which meant it wasn't DNS. But since you pinged by IP, there definitely is a strong chance it was DNS. Open DNS works well. Another good public DNS to use for testing purposes is 4.2.2.2.
