While that 84" 4k LG announced at CES is droolworthy, my budget's surely more modest. I don't want to go under 60" (preferably larger, but price is a factor). 64"-70" would be great if it fits in the budget and has a good picture. Budget is around $2,500 (not firm, but a ballpark). 3D looks to be rampant on these larger-scale sets, but its inclusion (or not) is of no concern. Any "auto motion plus" bullshit will be immediately disabled (with extreme prejudice). What say ye of these? Samsung UN60D8000 60" 3D LED 240 Hz Its predecessor, the Samsung UN60D7000 60" 240 Hz 3D LED Is there another maker at which I should look? I don't want a low-end TV...picture quality is v. important. Samsung and Sony were the names I was given, and while Sony makes good sets, they strike me as overpriced. |

I have a 55in Toshiba. Great picture, 120hz, 1080p etc. I don't recall the exact price but it was pretty darn reasonable. Also, you may check out Vizio. Their prices are pretty good as well. This also looks to be a damn good deal. http://www.amazon.com/LG-Infinia-65LW65 ... 99&sr=1-19 |

You're going to be hard-pressed to find a TV lineup better than the UN--8000 Samsungs. I'm serious. They're **** fantastic. My friend has the 55" 7000 and it blew me away the first time I saw it. |

Sweet. Any idea if there are appreciable quality differences between the 7000s and the 8000s? |

Also, why disable the Auto Motion Plus? |

I find its effect hideous, offensive, and ruinous. *shudder* Heard good things about Toshibas, but Vizios used to be budget sets with rather naff picture quality. Have they improved? They've definitely had an incredible showing at CES this year. |

The 8000's have better local dimming and they come with glasses. 7900's are the same, but no glasses. Chart: http://cl.ly/1z0b1i1e0N3h083s3T1S |

Lord Doom concurs with Lenas's recommendation and very quietly hides his 8000 in the secret man cave. |

It's that crap that does a fake interpolation between frames to "smooth" motion out and makes everything look like a soap opera. |

Nothing like your TV turning cinema into home movies for ya. Sometimes I turn it on for sports (am still undecided if it is worthwhile in that context), but otherwise it is perhaps the best example known to Man demonstrating that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. |

Anyone have any feedback on Sharp Aquos? |

The PQ is great but I'm reading there might be problems with vignette on the corners of the larger LED sets. Here's the official AVSForum thread on the 735 (70", 3D, ~$2800) model: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1350285 From what I gather, the 734 model is exactly the same, without 3D, but it also might not have the vignette corner issue, either. |

Yeah, the 735 is what I'm in front of right now in BB. I am seeing a tiny vignette in the corners, but not much. |

At least, it's not enough to be a trade-off for the size difference. The Samsung UN--8000 looks gorgeous, but we could only get a 60" in that model, whereas we can get the 70" Sharp. |

I'd say go with the Aquos, then |

My Aquos has been alive and kicking for... 4 years? now, and still looks pretty good. It's only a 46", but.. 4 years old, I'm not rich enough to have afforded a 60" set 4 years ago... |

Ok, bought it, now trying to go pick it up (it wasn't in stock at the local BB). I love the picture on the Samsung, but the super-reflective glass on it would have been deadly in our den. Was a little out of budget (well, $700...), but came with 2 pairs of 3D glasses, so that's good. Yay for "Hugo" in 3D! |
