Ok I seem to be stuck on my rebuild. Recap so far 1) Built new system 2) Set up disks in raid 0 and installed OS 3) System ran fine for 2 days then a pop from the MB and dead board 4) Replaced MB and powered up the system So here I am it boots up and I get the bios screen - sort of, the resolution is really wonky it isn't displaying everything (What was wrong with the old fashioned bios screens) so I am kind of navigating in the dark in the bios. I decide to use the onboard graphics for now so I do and it is a little better but I still can't really tell where I am as I navigate by using the keyboard arrows I decide to skip it and go on but then I get operating system missing - which I am assuming is from my previous raid set up which I had set up using the board that died, the problem is I can't navigate in the bios to get to the raid controller to set up a new raid and do a clean install. I tried putting the OS dvd in the drive but it isn't booting from it, and again I can't navigate the bios because it isn't displaying correctly so I can't check the boot order. I'm tempted to just buy a cheap drive do a clean install so I can get everything set up then go back and take care of the old drives but I don't really want to. Any suggestions? |

Ok I finally figured out the issue with seeing the bios, it was funky, I had to switch from my hdmi cable to old school vga. Something about standards compliance of the cable. So once that was done I could see the bios just fine, and I was able to enable the on-board raid controller, which then when I booted up it went into windows just fine. Yay! |

That's a new one to me. (Of course, having mostly built pc's for businesses, they do not use HDMI cables to attach their monitors....yet.) Glad you figured it out! |
