I was on some website and accidentally clicked a link with the following URL: "http://track.mypcbackup.com/?hash=566a9968". Aside from a flicker of my screen, nothing happened, but I'm concerned that I triggered something I didn't wish to. Anyone have any insights as to what that link does?

Do a system rollback just to be safe?

Run pandasoft online scanner, it will pick up any trackers/hijackers/viruses you may have inadvertantly picked up.

I fetched the page with malzilla and also loaded it up in a sandboxed browser. It does hook any attempt to close the page or navigate away in order to display one of those "OMG ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO LEAVE THIS FABULOUS PAGE?!?!" dialogues which are oh-so-popular with the scareware pushers. But beyond that, it doesn't seem to be malicious. Just typical bullshit advertising.

Without seeing the source of the referring page I can't say for sure; however, I'm guessing that this was intended to be a pop-up/pop-under ad. My speculation is that the link got swallowed by your browser's (or an add-on's) pop-up blocking logic.

Thank you Stathol. That's actually what I suspected was happening as well.

Hmm, I never knew about 'malzilla'. Very handy.
