Ordered today...

MSI GT70 0ND-445US.
Comes with an Ivybridge Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz processor, 12GB DDR3 RAM, a 750GB 7200RPM Hard drive, Blu-Ray combo drive, 17.3" 1920x1080 display, Geforce GTX675M 2GB GDDR5 graphics, and Windows 8.

Also has an empty drive bay for the 256GB SSD i'm going to put in it as a system drive.

Fairly Sweet. The Laptop SSDs are incredibly swift if you haven't have the opportunity to use one yet. I don't know about 8, but win 7 boots so fast, I thought it was crashing out at the logo screen, but it was actually done.

No.

I'm not convinced Windows 8 is an improvement. Nevertheless, it's newer. Microsoft is already starting to drop support for various updates in Windows 7. Eventually, one will be forced to upgrade. Windows 8 delays that substantially, by about three years.

Yes. Sadly, being "up-to-date" when it comes to your OS means you are more likely to get current drivers, security and bug fixes, and software than older OSes, even if the older OS was "better" in some way.
