I'm getting pretty outdated on my primary office/gaming machine and I'm looking for some input on whether to just move my present PC to another use or give it to a relative or, Use some of the components I have and build off of that. I'm leaning pretty heavily into starting over but wanted some thoughts. My primary use was a work PC with RAID1 setup for backup, but it became somewhat of a media server/storage server and gaming machine.
I'm going windows 7, unsure of 32 or 64 bit. Some of my automotive programs just won't run on 32 bit I'm being told, unless there is some really good emulation. I'd really like to take advantage of 64 bit, more ram and all.
I'm getting ready to purchase a free standing NAS box so I won't need to rely on the RAID assembly for this box any more, and eventually build a HTPC.
Money isn't really that much of an issue unless I'm talking over 1K or more, but I'd really like to move into the next generation of things.
I have a 650W Antec power supply and a big assed Cooler Master Tower.
