Nope. They aren't overpaid. They is clearly an established market for elite athletic prowess, and unlike construction or IT work, there just aren't that many superior athletes who could replace them in their jobs.
Now, comparative to other elite athletes, Russell is overpaid relative to his value over a replacement player, but that certainly doesn't speak to that market in general.
