Heh, this thread prompted me to wonder if Dallas Braden is the worst pitcher to ever throw a perfect game. Surprisingly, the answer is, "No."

On the list of the seventeen pitchers who have thrown perfect games in the modern era of baseball sorted by ERA+, Dallas Braden does not rank high, but he isn't last on the list either. That honor falls to Charlie Robertson, who pitched for the White Sox, Braves, and Browns between 1919 and 1928, never once posted a winning record, and only three times struck out more men than he walked.

The list (excluding Lee Richmond and John Ward who threw their gems in 1880):

Pitcher ERA+
Addie Joss 142
Cy Young 138
Randy Johnson 136
Sandy Koufax 131
David Cone 121
Mark Buehrle 121
Jim Bunning 114
Kenny Rogers 108
David Wells 108
Dennis Martinez 106
Catfish Hunter 105
Mike Witt 105
Don Larsen 99
Tom Browning 98
Dallas Braden 95
Len Barker 94
Charlie Robertson 90

On a very exclusive list of people who have thrown three or more no-hitters, but not a single one of them was a perfect game.

Tonight Roy Halladay pitched the second perfect game of the year, only the second time that has ever happened, and the first time in the Modern Era of the game. Halladay worked his gem against the Florida Marlins, striking out 11, and throwing a moderately conservative 115 pitches during a brisk game lasting only 2:13. Over shadowed by Halladay's brilliance was Florida starting pitcher, staff ace Josh Johnson who allowed only 1 unearned run over seven strong innings, over powering the middle of a strong Philadelphia batting order. The final score of the contest was 1-0, Phillies.
