Hah, never looked at it from that angle before, Michael.

And ack, I think I jinxed the Phillies with my earlier comment about the series being dragged out til the end! Umm.. the, the Giants are going to wrap it up tomorrow and not end up losing in 7 games? Yeah, definitely that is what's going to happen . . .

Yes Noggel, that is exactly what is going to happen.

Why? Timmy is on the mound tomorrow.

If there is one thing I know, it's to never bet against Roy Halladay.

If there is one thing I know...never bet on the Giants to win! (Even though I hope they do, they have never failed to disappoint me :( )

As a follower of several Wisconsin sporting teams over the years, trust me, I understand.

But, hey, look on the bright side - more baseball! Every series should go seven games. That staves off my withdrawal pangs for an extra few days.

Hmm.. I might be onto something here..

Alright then, must've just been a fluke! The Giants will sweep right into Philadelphia and secure an easy victory over Oswalt! Clearly this is the only possible outcome and no baseball gods of fate will prove me wrong.

Ok, it's official. It's a Steers and Queers Series.

Amusing that you should choose the neutered animal.

Rooting against Rangers, and for Giants, seems odd given the provenance of this board. Nonetheless, Go Giants, bash good.

It was the only way I could make it rhyme. I honestly believe the titling of the series was some superlative work on my end.

I'll be rooting hard for the Rangers. They beat the Yankees for me, I have a hetro-mancrush on Cliff Lee, Vlad Guerrero and Josh Hamilton, and I would love to see Nolan Ryan get his first ring as an owner.

The San Francisco Giants have never won a World Series, the last one the Giants won was when they were still the New York Giants in 1954. I was born in 1955. I'll be rooting hard to see my home team's first World Series win and the organization's first WS win in my lifetime.

By the by, the word Queer, long held to be politically incorrect and denigrating term for homosexual, and yes I know being PI doesn't bother you in the least, is having a resurgence. It is now, at least in California being used as a positive term for and by those youth, and specifically late teens early twenties, who consider their sexual identity to be non-definable in current verbiage. They aren't really gay, bi-sexual is too clinical, might be some goth or emo or whatever thrown into the mix - yada yada yada - mostly I think they are confused and rebelling against being labeled. Just so you will know. A lot of them are having alcohol and drug problems which is where I come across them.

Oh, and be careful about those hetero man-crushes, wives and girlfriends don't always understand when you are talking about them holding their stick, uhm, their wood, uhm, their Baseball Bat, see honey, right there on the screen, yeah, three strikes and you're outed, uhm, out. We won't even mention the Batter's Box (to put his junk in?)

I was aware of the chaging conotations of the word queer. It was the reason I felt compelled to use it. While I disdain anyone opperating as a prisoner of political correctness, I also feel it is tactless to be offensive just for the sake of being offensive.

Welp, I can't really complain as a Phillies fan. Outside of the one anomaly of actually outscoring the Giants overall, I'd say the series played out as it should given the way the teams were playing. Pitching was pretty good by both teams, perhaps as was realistically expected (NLDS pitching was a bit too awesome to continue :p) but the Phillies just didn't show up at all offensively. No heroes like Ross or Uribe. TONS of offensive opportunities for the Phillies, and almost never pulled through on any of them. Nothing hurts more than hitting a screamer in one of those situations -- directly into the glove of a fielder. Can't win a series like that.

8 for 45 with runners in scoring position over the series. Note that outside of game 3, all Phillies losses were by 1 run. Even if we were hitting like a shadow of how we were in September the series would've played out extremely differently. Definitely some of that is on the Giants' pitching staff, probably second only to the Phillies in MLB, but no pitching is this dominant that you can't blame the hitting an awful lot.

Torn on who to root for. I think I individually like Texas players more (though for some reason Josh Hamilton isn't one of them), and the franchise has never won a World Series. Cliff Lee in particular deserves a ring. Just something about rooting for the AL that bugs me though. :p

On the last day of the season I was hoping for a Phillies loss to get the Braves in the playoffs and a Padres win to keep the Giants out! I saw this matchup coming a mile away as the biggest risk, as something just as easily decided by a coin flip. Alas.

Friggin Brooks Conrad!

In what I have to believe would be a spirited footrace between Benji Molina and tectonic motion, I'm giving the edge to Molina.
