So, as some of you know, I'm a big Montréal Canadiens fan.
They're on a pretty hot run right now, having gone 8-1-1 in their last 10, but last night's game against New Jersey wasn't televised on any channels I get. I kept a little "gamecenter" app running in the corner of my screen giving me updates.
With the score tied 2-2 late in the third, The Devils scored with only 1:06 left in the game. Well, the hot streak can't last forever, and as I watched the clock tick down to 0:00, I decided to go to bed, resigned to the fact that they'd lost.
Well, the guys updating the gamecenter app have some esplainin' to do, Lucy. Despite the app ticking down to 0:00 without another update, when I wake up this morning to the radio alarm clock, the sports report says "Montréal scored in the final minute of play to tie the game with New Jersey, and won in a shootout."
Huh?
I quickly got up and grabbed my computer to check the boxscore. Sure enough, Montréal had scored with 0:37 left, nobody scored in OT, and they won the shootout.
I swear that woke me up far faster than the usual routine of stumbling downstairs for coffee waiting for the caffeine to hit my bloodstream.
