The Mariners have players quitting, or being written off to injury, and Spring Training hasn't even started yet...

Should be a fun season.. :(

Hoping the Tigers get it together this year.

I'm hoping for some healthy Dodgers, and a World Series appearance. On the other side, I'd love to see Jeter get one more shot at it, but I think that's a long shot.

Of course, the way baseball goes, it will probably be Cleveland defeating Oakland to go to the Series, where they will play Cincinnati. An all-Ohio World Series, that would be weird.

As always, I will be at every home game for the Atlanta Braves and any post-season games they happen to make should my schedule allow. I love baseball; I love my franchise, even when we don't do so well.

Speaking of baseball, did anyone notice the guaranteed first-ballot Hall of Famer who wasn't?

I am so pissed about Jack Morris that I didn't even pay attention to who go in.

By not voting in Morris, they've made the HOF into something of a joke.

BTW, despite him spending almost his entire career in Detroit, his single most successful season was in Toronto near the end of his career, so I tend to have a soft spot for him.

People over-rate ERA (and especially WHIP) and underrate Win-Loss. Morris found a way to win games, regardless of how many his team scored. If his team scored 10, he'd allow 8, and still pitch a complete game. If his team scored 1, he'd pitch a shutout without flinching. It's about buckling down when it matters, and nobody in the modern era did that better than Morris. He always pitched as well as he needed to get the W. I am convinced, if he spent his whole career on teams that couldn't get runs in, he'd still have had a winning record, and his career ERA would have been under 2. Jack always pitched his best when the game was close. I also believe he could have been the best closer that the game had ever seen, for the same reason.

If you had to win a big game in the 80's, you wanted Jack on the mound. I was heart broken when he left the Tigers.

The Hall of Fame has rendered itself irrelevant, so whoever it is, it doesn't matter anyway.

I'm looking forward to a cold beer on a warm summer night at Fenway.

Mets @ Toronto, playing in Montreal's old stadium. Stadium and field look great. Crowd is very loud. Being aired on MLB.

Mets 4, Jays 2 in the 7th. Pre-season still.

Would be nice to see Montreal get a team again. I always like their uni's.

NObody watching BASEBALLS?!?!?!?

Come on! It's Amerka's game!

Jose Reyes already on the DL with hammy. Selig's final hoorah! Pirates with a walk-off win over the Cubbies! Tigers with a walk-off win over the Royals! Nats over Mets in 10th. Big Daddy Vladdy officially retires with a one day contract with the Angels.

The Mariners absolutely roflstomped the Angels tonight.

I doubt they will keep it up, but it was sure fun to watch Felix get his first win!

... and broke his father-in-law's right femur. Yowch, I'm still grimacing.

Sorry, I feel like I've already had three opening days before 27 other teams even started. I watched the Australian opening day live, then again the next night, when I was actually awake and alert. And, of course, last night's game. So, today was a bit anti-climactic :) good to get back in the swing of things, though.

And, really, Mus, too many games is so not a reason to dislike baseball. The beauty of baseball is that today's games could decide a race six months from now. If Oakland loses their division or a playoff spot by one game, remember a baserunning gaff in the 8th inning that cost them at least one run tonight.

I'll stop, before I start waxing lyrical.

It seems the Reds still haven't learned that good pitching is not enough, they actually have to get people around the bases when its not their turn to pitch. The cards were even nice enough to help them, but they still couldn't figure it out
