Montreal beat the Make-be-Leafs for the opening game of the season and the Booins for the home opener, with Milan Lucic making the usual idiotic fool of himself and costing his team any chance of getting back into the game.

I'm happy.

A guy where I work always wears a Lucic jersey. I've never spoken to him.

It is so early but I am always excited about the start of the season. The Wings are looking pretty good so far.

Stat heard on the radio this morning:

The Blackhawks have more wins this season in Chicago than the Bears.

Considering the 'Hawks play 41 home games a season, and the Bears play, what, 8? I think it's safe to say that even if the 'Hawks had their worst year ever and the Bears won all their home games, the Hawks would win more games in Chicago than the Bears.

Raell, I wish I could feel sorry for your Red Wings tonight, but...

Boooyah! Go Habs!

Also, from Saturday's game against Colorado - highlight goal of the season so far:

Every team Montreal has faced this season has been winning against them at some point during the game. In 7 games this year, Montreal has allowed the first goal in 6 of them, and been trailing at some point or another in all of them.

They're 6-1 so far this year.

Never thought I'd see the day when Milan the Nutjob* Lucic backed down from a challenge from Subban.

Carey Price may be having the most outstanding regular season of any goalie in modern NHL history.

Yea, if the Canadiens don't get close to the cup this year, something broke along the way.

The habs have mostly had the opposite problem. While a few teams have given them problems *coughTampabaycough*, generally they've beaten teams at the top of the standings. It's Edmonton and Buffalo they can't beat.

They have kicked the Wings around in every meeting so far this year. This season is making me crazy.

Welp...the soon to be Dead Wings have managed to claw their way into the playoffs again. For all the good it will do, they are out in the first.

So relieved. 3 wins to go this round.

Game 1 thoughts - Ottawa @ Montréal

Andrei Markov scored Ottawa's first goal of the game. Too bad he's a Montréal Canadien.
The Referees seemed to only be watching red shirts for infractions, they ignored Ottawa the entire game.
Mark Stone deserves an Oscar for his Soccer-antics.
Mark Stone's supposedly injured wrist was healthy enough to play most of the game, and to start a fight after the game.
The Habs were missing their top forward for the entire game, their top defenseman for half the game. Carey Price was not at his best. And the Refs favored Ottawa in Power-play minutes 13 to 2 and basically declared that Ottawa was allowed to trip, hold, hook, punch, slash, and high-stick, while if Montreal tried any of the above, they were getting penalized for it. Montréal still outshot Ottawa 39-33, and outscored them 4-3. Despite the game being close, it was a convincing win.

Ottawa coach will be fined tomorrow. He basically told the media that the league better suspend Subban or he'll be telling his players to slash away at Montréal.

Why did Subban hit that dude with his stick? Did he get confused and think he was the puck?

Mus: Ottawa spent the first period running at Carey Price. In the intermission, Coach Michel Therien lit into the Canadiens, telling them that anyone who gets within 5 feet of the goal crease needs to be made to feel it. It's gotta hurt to be close to Carey Price.

Subban got the message loud and clear. A for effort. F for execution. That slash, while killing a penalty, right in front of the referee, and the puck nowhere in sight? Subban needs to keep his brain working all the time. He's such an awesome player, but he forgets where he is every once in a while.

Plus side, Mark Stone wasn't really hurt at all. He was Ottawa's best guy on the ice the last two games. And Montreal's winning 3 games to 0.

Didn't Stone have a microfracture on his wrist or something?
