WHY!

We've lost a great one. While he may have had issues off the ice with substances and alcohol, he was a great person. On the ice he may have been a huge enforcer and bruiser, but he was an extremely caring individual who always took time out of his busy life for others.

He made the Wings fun to watch when they were not all that good. He could skate, score and make you wish you stayed in the locker room.

He was a great guy and one of my favorite players for years.

R.I.P Probey.

I will never forget, when Joe Kocur and Bob Propert were both at a little Card shop in the mid 90's, maybe early 90's signing Autograph's, outside Detroit, kinda a family outing we did, and an investment.

My puck's are packedged away and I cant remeber who the 3rd autograph on them was I want to say Darren McCarty, but we came into the shop, had 1 autograph on it in Silver Ink, Joe Kocur, when asked to sign in silver, basically told us to go screw off, even though we had the pen and everything to have him sign it. Probert was a few hundred feet down, we got to him, asked him to sign in Silver saw Kocur's signature in Gold. Explained what happened, he goes over to Kocur, has a few words with him comes back with a new puck with his and Kocur's autograph in Silver, like we asked, in addition to signing the one we brought in. Apologized to us, got several pictures with him, was a 100% pure gentlemen, besides the part of hitting on my mom :)

Ive met alot of wings over the years, Bob Probert and Gordie Howe, were the most pleasant and gentleman of them all.

Damn fun player to watch to, I will always remeber him, one of my personal all time favorites!
