I disagree with Kirra's first sentence.

I agree with the second.

It is a state of mind us, and that rivalry has had some terrific football played in it. Seems like both sides were a little weak on defense today, but you gotta love a game that goes down to the wire with competitive toughness.

There were a ton of good games this weekend. Starting with the Mizzou-ASU game on Friday, then the ISU-Iowa game that took 3 OTs, the Miss St-Auburn game where Auburn stopped them about 6 inches from the goal line to win the game. The Michigan-ND game was awesome too.

Since I made this post, I have spoken with someone that has educated me that ND does *not* mean North Dakota State.

I figured that North Dakota would have a rivalry with Michigan since, after all, they had to invent Minnesota to "Keep em Separated".

In addition, I DVR'd this game tonight... and what happened to the angry leprechaun emblem on Notre Dame's helmets? A clover? Really? Lame.

Way to skip over Wisconsin there! :P

I don't think they've ever had an angry lep on their helmets. At midfield at home, maybe ... but I think it's just burned into your memory somehow that it seems like it should be on their helmets. According to this blog, it was a throwback to a style from the early 1960s. And just for this game, I think.

The only helmets I remember Notre Dame wearing were just plain gold. I think there might have been a version with an ND on the side, but I'm not sure.

But I agree that the green clover looks bush league. If that was some kind of one-time throwback, that's cool, but if that color and design is permanent, then meh... ugly...

Hell of a way to end a game. Why didn't they count the return TD at the end?
