I'm somewhat surprised that there isn't a thread in here about the biggest story in sports... |

All kinds of articles out here, since he's a Bay Area guy. Warriors are feeling pretty stupid about cutting him. |

All kinds of stories on him all over the world. That is why I was surprised I hadn't seen a thread here already. I'm not a huge NBA fan, but this is such a cool story. I love underdog stories, and this one is a doozy. |

I am sure if Russ was still posting here, he would have tossed up something by now. I just don't give two poo's about the NBA. My team sucks harder than a two dollar whore. While I still try to watch them when I can...there are better things to do with my time. |

For those that haven't heard of him, here is a brief synopsis. - In high school, as a point guard, he took his team to a state championship, but was not recruited by DI schools except Harvard. - Went to Harvard and did great there. Got his degree. - Went undrafted by the NBA in 2010. Was eventually picked up by the Golden State Warriors. He warmed the bench. - Before the season this year he was cut. He was then picked up by the Rockets and cut again. He was then picked up by the Knicks, and was in the D-league (developmental) a month ago. - So there he is warming the bench, and days away from being cut for the 3rd time, likely ending his NBA dreams forever. - The Knicks were doing awful. They were on a 7 game losing streak. Their leading scorer (Carmelo Anthony) goes down to injury, and their second leading scorer (Amare Stoudemire) is out because his brother is killed in a car accident. The point guard situation is a complete mess, as they've gone through 3 of them and they've either been injured or they sucked. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni is about to lose his job. - Out of desperation he sticks in Jeremy Lin. Who goes off and scores 25 points 7 assists. - Over the last 9 games he averages 25 points and over 9 assists. This included a 38 point performance to beat the Lakers, and yesterday a 28 point 14 assist game to beat the defending NBA champ Mavericks. Those are super-star numbers from a guy that's making league minimum and was about to be cut 2 weeks ago. - Also, he's Asian-American. Which despite what Floyd Merryweather might say, is secondary. - His name has spawned such phrases as Linsanity, Lincredible, Super Lintendo, Linning, etc. Ok, I think that about covers... |

Jeremy Lin is the perfect example of that super rare story of triumph in the face of incredible adversity, which is the reason so many of us watch sports. You see something like this, and you just have to be thrilled for the kid. |
