An ESPN 30/30 documentary about athletes who made millions and are now pretty much broke. Came on last night I think but I didn't get a chance to see it. I've seen a lot of sports sites mention it and talk about how revealing and good it was.

Interesting stuff. This year, the Dodgers picked up Chris Capuano, and they were doing spring training interviews with him, etc. Turns out that his dad and brother are personal wealth managers or investment bankers, I forget exactly which. Chris went to Duke and majored in Economics; said that if he hadn't become a professional baseball player, he probably would have gone into investment banking. He said that he had worked with his dad to set up his finances, and I got a very strong feeling that he hasn't wasted a penny of the money he's made playing baseball.

It's really all about upbringing and how you've been raised to view money and what to do with it, I'm sure.

Most athletes are reallyno different than lttery winners in terms of wealth management skills. The outcomes are unsurprising.

Try Ochocinco. He just got divorced for headbutting his wife, got fired from the Dolphins and went out and bought a Lamborghini to console himself...

Or Michael Vick! (Keep murdering those dogs that don't win you moneys!)

Wait... does this create a false equivalence that I think Dogs > Strippers? Now I'm conflicted.

nono, in the game of one-upsmanship.

Pacman Jones < Michael Vick in terms of heinousity.

PMJ shot a stripper, MV murdered and fought dogs.

Is the act of shooting a stripper more heinous than murdering a bunch of pit bulls?

I dunno. I need to reflect.

Technically PMJ shot at some strippers. He hit a bouncer if memory serves.

Ah.

Ok then, that makes MV worse.

PMJ just wounded someone because he's a tool with a gun. MV tortured, abused and murdered animals.

So, I'm still ahead then :)
