Perpetual Summer skimpy clothing copious amounts of cold refreshments, driving through Tempe near ASU, And to think people wonder why I live in Phoenix.

So I tried surfing for the first time this week. Summer isn't all too bad I suppose. Still, counting the days until the powder starts dumping again.

Or, you could just go to Mammoth, CA. They're still having something of a ski season, which is bumming out all of the mountain bike operators in the area, because people aren't mentally prepared to keep skiing this late. They still have "9.5'-18' base, plus a chance of snow", as of today.

There, I've done my part for California tourism.

Pretty sure Crystal Mountain is still open up here, although I can't imagine it lasting much longer, as the weather has finally started warming up.

I was supposed to hit up Mammoth this June but it fell through. Anyway, if I did move to Cali, I'd prefer probably Truckee. A 20 minute drive to Northstar @ Tahoe and Heavenly, an hour from Sierra @ Tahoe and Squaw. Donner Ranch is nearby and still open. 5 hours from the beach. And 4 hours from Mammoth.

LA wouldn't be bad since Bear Mountain is nearby, but I'd prefer North Cali.

As it is, I think Summit County, Colorado might be even better. I used to hike out there in the summer.

Heh, only the really serious snow guys do that. My wife's uncle was one of those - surfer, ski bum, eventually moved to Mammoth so he could ski all winter. Worked construction during the summers so he could afford to ski.

I've never been to the Truckee area, but, yeah, it's probably better for your purposes than Mammoth. And SoCal really only has two places you can go, Big Bear and Mountain High (had to look up the second one).

Big Bear is packed with LA sluts which gives it some serious points. Plus the ThirtyTwo crew regularly sends their guys there so it's a chance to get in on a ridealong.
