I restore streams and rivers that have been heavily impacted and have degraded for some reason or another. I try to mimic natural stable channel designs because, frankly, you can't out engineer Mother Nature. At least I can't.

Anyway, a natural channel requires a geometry that is stable, a floodplain, and vegetation to hold things in place. If done properly and well vegated, this system should be able to withstand a large flood with minor damage.

Unfortunately, every time we have a major storm, I have one or more projects that has just recently been constructed (little to no established vegetation) or worse, one under construction. Sometimes they hold up ok, sometimes they go to ****.

You can guess which happened yesterday.
