Heheh, I'm pretty surprised at the amount of "oldschool cold calling boiler rooms" experience you've got in order to say it describes them perfectly. I guess if one's idea of "oldschool" is Dickensian, it may be an apt description, barring that, I thought it was an example of Hollywood aggrandizement and over-exaggeration in order to make an engaging movie.
