The Glade 4.0

An acquaintance went missing while sea kayaking on Friday, and the CG called off the search last night due to water temp and degrading weather. He was experienced, but something went wrong & he was apparently underequipped for the water temps (air temp was in the 50's when he went out). His kayak was found today, but that's it so far.

He was a duke (past king) in the SCA, so there are a whole lotta people around the world who were hoping against hope. He and his wife did a lot for me, and they have a daughter close in age to my own.

So, yeah.

(And no, I do not need to hear how he was stupid for kayaking in January. It is SO not helpful. I grew up on the ocean, my bf grew up on the ocean. We know all that could have been done differently.)

Ack!!! I am sorry to hear about your friend. Losing someone is never easy, no matter how it goes.

Yeah, I heard about it over the weekend from a local friend of mine who's in the SCA, too. Such a heartbreaking situation.

On a good note, my mom had a successfully cardiac procedure, although they still haven't managed to control her BP since.
