Group projects in college are among my least favorite aspects of school. I really don't care how well is reflects the real workplace. When I'm paying money for a personal education, out of my own pocket, I don't want my performance to be dictated by other imbeciles. It's one thing to have to put up with them when you're getting paid to do so. When you're the one paying, it's a whole different story. The fact that one person typically carries the weight is really only the second or third reason I hate group projects in school. In the workplace, people who carry the load tend to rise to the top. In school, during a short half semester long project that culminates at the end of the semester, nothing rises to the top. Everyone gets the same grade and then the semester ends. At least you get rewarded for pulling your weight in the workplace.
