I empathize as well...

My kitty Hank met a similar fate about a year ago.

This is what he looked like when I first adopted him.

I've been there, Müs. I had two brothers, who died within 4 months of each other. Petey was never sick a day in his life, but he suddenly developed pleural effusion at 17, and I had to make the decision to put him down, or to have him tapped every week or so at 300 bucks a pop. His brother Popeye was the cat with all the health problems (about $10k worth all told), but he lasted another 3 months before he started showing signs of some sort of degenerative nerve disease, and I had to do it all over again. It's been 3 years now, and I still miss them.
