So, we've recently reorganized and I got more staff. Great.

In the past, my performance has always been based on keeping "lots of people busy" and "winning work" and bringing projects in on budget.

The last is definable, trackable, and clear. The other 2 are... not.

So now, I'm being given metrics that I can be evaluated against, including new client business in the door, new business from existing clients in the door, total revenue generated, total profit, etc. etc.

I've been asking for this for a while, so that I can have clear expectations, and more importantly, more clearly demonstrate how much *** I kick.

Except that... my draft numbers came in roughly 2.2 times what I could possibly pull off with the staff I have available. And we begin today. That means, I'd have to double my work force by tomorrow to pull this off, or since that is impossible, start out behind and triple my force down the line to catch up. Assuming I can get that much work in the door which is a pipe dream.

I have a meeting at 2 today to go over the numbers "and get everyone's buy-in". Going to be a fun meeting. /facepalm

You have measurables (even if they aren't quite right)

Yeah, well, you don't want it to be measurable if it's unattainable. Unattainable goals should be highly ambiguous.
