That is mighty low. But how the **** do you steal 20,000 pounds of food without someone noticing?

I think an ever better question is what are you going to do with 20,000 pounds of food? You certainly aren't going to be able to use it all yourself in a reasonable time line, and hanging on to that much stolen property is a really Bad Idea. It's going to be pretty hard to explain to people why your entire house is now a pantry.

You'd want to get rid of it quickly and discreetly, but... how? Are there people that fence green beans? Does creamed corn have a high street value? Have you ever heard of someone buying groceries off the black market? This is pretty weird.

Good point. That is pretty weird. Maybe its a publicity stunt in a desperate attempt to spark donations?
Or maybe its the work of a renegade homeless group who are tired of eating canned peas every year and they snuck in and got rid of 'em.
The world may never know.

Most of the food types donated to food drives these days are dry goods and canned goods. Both types of food last a long time and can be consumed slowly over time.

Food drives, unless they are preparing for one big meal, i.e. Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinners, usually do not have the resources to refrigerate much and ask for canned stuff, basic dry goods, and things like baby formula.

Since this is too much for one guy to have done by himself, I'd imagine a lot of it was split among several co-conspirators, or more likely moved out of State, perhaps out of country.

I wonder if anyone is going to watch E-Bay and look for those selling a lot of the same types of toys that were stolen.

Inside job, I'm guessing. Otherwise, how would they know where it all was?

I would have to agree, plus 10 tons of food would require a big truck.
