I hate them, God I hate them.

So yesterday I went off on a rant at work for a couple of minutes about how much and why I hate them (getting poked in the eye if someone next to you has one, take up a hand as you walk, big and cumbersome, they break every time the wind blows, etc.

So today I get to work a bit late and have to park at the back of the lot. It is raining crazy hard. I pretty much had to swim through the rain to the office.

I am soaked. I am cold. I am annoyed.

I live in Seattle, and don't own an umbrella.

If rain is in the forecast, I usually keep a ball cap handy to keep the rain off of the glasses, and wear a lightweight waterproof'ish jacket.

I just hate dealing with a wet umbrella once I get where I'm going, or inside the car.

As far as umbrellas being dangerous, the small collapsible ones don't present much risk.

Preach it, brother! I hate umbrellas, too. If you check out one of my pictures here, I think it has a picture of me in my crushable, 100% wool Pendleton hat. Wear it with a rain coat, and I'm impenetrable.

Of course, that's LA rain, probably nothing like yours. Still ...
