So I have a heel spur. It is not fun.

Worse part: I can't fence until it's improved.

Sorry to hear Serienya. My SO has one on her heel and it sucks. I massage her heal for close to an hour every day (she works on her feet) just to help her make it tolerable.

Right now, it's heavy-duty anti-inflammatories, stretches, and good insoles (and better shoes). At the moment, I'm actually just wearing arch supports, which help somewhat. I've been switching between those (when not wearing shoes) and gel insoles for the heel (when wearing shoes). If it hasn't improved in a month, I get to see an orthopedist. They can do stuff like ultrasound treatments or cortisone shots if conservative treatment doesn't help.

It will also help to bring down my weight. Good thing my bf and I had bought an elliptical before this! (It's getting delivered tomorrow, actually.) It's low-impact, so shouldn't re-damage anything.

I'm just tired of medical issues preventing me from fencing to my potential. It's hard to run a practice and help teach when you can't stand for long without pain. (It tends to be worse by the end of the day.)

Sorry Serienya...it's not easy dealing with pain of any kind. I hope yours goes away soon.

Thanks. :)

On a side note, the elliptical is now here, but still in pieces. The computer was missing a cable and it could not be assembled. I get a replacement next week. Grrrrrrr.....
