Post subject: | Hey Micheal... (SCA stuff) |
I get to wear the tabard with the SCA arms on Saturday! (Best perk ever!) And I have a gavel and the library that goes with the office. Now I need to finish cleaning the disaster that is my house so I can have house guests (1 from MD, 2 from Germany). Tomorrow is shopping for food and attempting to de-gluten my kitchen for said house guests. Then I get to prep for a heraldic/scribal symposium (teaching + meet & greet + Roadshow/heckle the new sovereign) that we're attending on Sat. I'm hosting my decision meeting on Sun. Somewhere in there I need to finish prepping for the meeting. I've only made it from Aethelmearc to partway through Caid. Thankfully, it's a split month with the prior Pelican, so I only have to go through East. Next month I have to do it all. I have to start going through the proofreader comments for last month (also a split month) in the next few days. (Not to mention parenting, holding a full-time job, and running a rapier practice.) Now can I panic? So I'm sitting and having a glass of port because... panic. I so hope it's a wet site on Saturday. |

Dear Serienya, Congratulations on making the transition to Pelican Sovereign of Arms. Back when I was on Laurel Staff Laurel did all that stuff. I remember sitting in a cozy garage in Berkeley many Sundays from lunch till way in the evening going through hundreds of submissions and learning more about Heraldry in there than I could believe. Your staff is key, hope you gather a good one. Our current Vesper Principal Herald is Duke, Frederick of Holland, MSCA, OP. He was at the first party in Berkeley, May 1, 1966, and has been active almost continuously since. He's a good egg, but will argue a point he believes in forever. Enjoy your visitors, you may have many during your tenure. Looking forward to finally meeting you in person in Las Vegas this summer. caoimhin o'fiodhabhra, O.P., Baron of the Court of the West. |

Yup, I saw that Flieg took over as Vesper. He's fun to talk to. Now it's time to go have a burger and some beer, before I get back to cleaning! |
