THE STORY SO FAR: Came down with strep Friday, discovered (as a result of being off of my antihistamine) upon drinking herbal tea with honey that I am **** allergic to honey (hello, anaphylaxis!), while recuperating learned that my maternal grandmother discovered a lump in her breast that the doctor doesn't think is benign, upon returning from that fun doctor's visit my mom came home to find her precious pug dead (only eight years old) of no apparent cause, and I wake up at 4am to a text that my father's had to rush to the hospital because my paternal grandmother's congestive heart failure has reached critical mass, only to have her flatline this morning not twenty minutes after talking to him to try to figure out how to get there in time to say goodbye AND THEN to have her resuscitated only to likely be brain-dead but prolong his agony of watching his mother's body catch up to the rest of her by at least another 24 hours to see if she recovers (spoiler alert: unlikely to **** happen).

We're only twelve goddamn days into this Gregorian shit-show, a **** election year to boot, and you have the unmitigated **** gall to claim David Bowie?

I felt the same way about 2015. Sorry that this year is starting off as a giant **** sandwich for you.

However, allow me to call your attention to the upcoming summer Olympics, which involve girl athletes, particularly swimming, diving, track and above all - beach volleyball. This may help to improve your outlook.

Well, my paternal grandmother came back from the brink, after about 12 hours (yesterday morning). Spent yesterday talking to my parents, and they made plans for moving her from the hospital into hospice, canceled plans for the rental car and funeral. Phe and I made plans to go down to visit with her (5.5 hours away) over the weekend. Dad texted me this morning to say she was still doing well, and asked if I wanted to try to video chat with her this afternoon. I was swamped with one of the worst days of work I've ever had, but as soon as my meetings (and my panicked work emergencies) were over, I was going to text him back to say "sure".

Dad just called me to tell me that she just died.

I'm sure I'll cry at some point tonight. I'm sure it'll hit me and I'll break down. Right now, though...I don't have any energy left for emotions, and I've already ridden that roller coaster this week.

(I don't wanna piss and moan, but 2016 is shaping up to be BAD CAR YEAR. About to drop another wad on our minivan, which will push up the total - this year - over $2000. Grrr.)
