Our little 19" Westinghouse LCD TV crapped out after a little over a year. All the reviews at the time were pretty positive, but this tv's ratings on a lot of sites is now usually under 2/5. Apparently their LCD tv's have some pretty shoddy manufacturing that makes them prone to dying pretty quickly. Most I saw complaining said their tv died at about the 14-16 month mark, conveniently after the warranty expired.

*sigh*

I've had two diametric experiences with Westinghouse.

The first was a smaller LCD that when I got home looked absolutely horrible. It went back the next day.

I also bought a 37" LCD from newegg a couple of years ago. It had outstanding reviews then (and still does). It gets used daily and extensively, and it stilling purring like a kitten and looks great.

If I were superstitious I'd be knocking on wood about now :p

I used a Westinghouse 19" LCD PC monitor for a while and while it performed its function -- there were these thin, diagonal bands of interference constantly scrolling down the screen when playing certain games.

To be fair, I'm not sure that it was entirely the monitor's fault, as the video card I was using was a dinosaur. And it may have been a combination of that and those certain games requiring a mhz refresh rate that the monitor didn't like.

Either way, I use a 23" Acer now and love it.

Haven't cared for the brand since before computer days. Always seemed to be cheaply made and sold too hard.

I had a 42" LCD die on me after about 6 months. Their tech support/customer service flat out blows. I will never buy from them again.

Let it go Kirra. Let him walk his new path without any more anger or hatred. Just keep the microwave popcorn handy so you can sit and watch the show. Make a habit of not being sympathetic, but laughing at the latest trouble he's gotten himself into that you no longer have to pay for.

Laughter is a healing mechanism. Let it heal you.

He doesn't get to change the terms of the divorce at this late date. The property has already been divided and he got the lion's share that you are still paying for.

911 if he shows up demanding anything, don't open the door to him until after everything is final. Even then, don't open the door, you're done, its over.

You did change the locks didn't you?

My guess - He's scared. Impending fatherhood does that to a lot of guys. You, like it or not, represent safer times. He'll get over it. Stay strong.

Be prepared for "I've been so stupid - can you ever forgive me - will you take me back"

Why, so you can help him pay his child support for until he cheats on you and leaves again? Leopards have a hard time changing their spots, odds are he will repeat the behavior over and over again.

I am going to disagree, don't laugh at his misfortune. Be apathetic. Hate is not the opposite of love as it still entails a degree of caring. Find a way to ignore everything that happens to him don't let yourself fall into the trap.

Hopwin is wise, or at least well on his way to getting there. That is what she should do.

However, I don't think Kirra is ready to let it go. A few reminders to let her know what she escaped and appreciate her luck will go a long way towards resisting his charms when the inevitable happens and he shows up trying to get back together.

Good guys move on. If something happens in the future, that is okay, but it isn't to be pursued. Never look back.

Good advice Michael.

The past is comfortable. It can be so tempting to see if you can get back to the past, when times were good. But, to get that view, you have to look around the 800 pound gorilla made of his broken promise-stonebricks wrapped in his steel reinforced lies. It's always going to be there, always going to flavor everything if you try to go back.

The future can be scary. It looks like there's an 800 pound gorilla made of self-doubt blocking the rosy view that's just over the horizon. But this gorilla isn't solid, it just looks that way. It's made of paper mache and helium baloons. All you have to do is try, Kirra, and you'll see what you can do. And once this gorilla's been knocked out of the way, it gets weaker and weaker as you achieve more and more.

It all starts with one step, Kirra, but each one after gets just a little easier. You'll get there.
