The last time I did this, I bombed it. I got lazy, I stopped caring, I stopped being focused.

I've been lazy as hell ever since, and now I'm going to lose a lot of the free time I liked so much, to try again. EMT training feels like it was easy, but this is not going to be so.

I start questioning myself right about now. Do I deserve this? Am I just going to screw it up again? Let's face it, spending all my time goofing off and playing video games is looking a lot more appealing than spending Monday (+night, maybe), Wednesday (+night, maybe), and Friday at school, then Friday and Saturday night at work. I don't want to fall into that trap again, but it seems.. inevitable.

And then there's the gas costs. Here to Council Bluffs, three to five times a week (three, if I can find a place to crash on Monday/Wednesday, five if I can't)? I can't afford gas. I can ask parents for more help, but I do not want. They've provided $1000 already, straight up. I don't want to ask for more, if I can help it.

I don't want to do this, but I don't want to hide and mooch forever.

How bad do you want to succeed, Dalantia? If you really want it, you'll find a way to make it work. It won't always be easy, but you will make it happen. I've been there; the reward is great.
Have fun with it and good luck!

Dalantia! You can do it! EMT school will be challenging but it is so rewarding when you are actually out on the rig and you save a life!

Plus you will have many great stories to share with your fellow gladers! EMT's see the craziest things!

Buckle down, focus. I you can focus on a computer game for months at a time, you can focus on bettering yourself for awhile.

Just think of it as an achievement that unlocks new instances. Do it for the loot.

Suck it up and get it done. Sometimes, you need a friend to just kick your *** into gear. Ask if one is around to help.

For the record - EMT training was two years ago. I'm already certified and serving, but I need to recert Soon. This time, it's Pre-Med.

For most of my friends, I'm the one doing the kicking. I have the position of "Wise/creepy older guy that has done it and will tell you why you shouldn't" amongst my group of doods. Is entertaining, to say the least.

Ok, be your own creepy wise guy and kick yourself into doing it.

Why the reluctance to ask for or accept help from the parents, Dalantia?

Do you honestly think you're going to sit on your deathbed and wished you'd screwed around and played more video games?

Stick with it. How you handle this defines your character.

Because I've been living at their house for.. 7 years, mooching off them, essentially. (Room and board, mostly.) Yes, I usually have a part-time job, but that goes for my food and usually indulging my laziness. I don't like asking for more. (Entertainingly, I managed to get a Pell Grant, because I work a part-time job and claimed no parental tuition assistance. Which is actually completely true; the only assistance I'm getting from my parents is fuel for the full thing, and food for this week.. and room and board.)

Eh. I'll just have to do the best I can. Hopefully, I can get the "Haven't seen the inside of a math room in 8 years" out now so I can Not Fail Pre-Calc.
