I just finished about a month and a half of antibiotics in December for repeat sinus infections.

And I have another one. I was sick all weekend, and then felt completely wiped out today and stayed home.

I have an appt with an otolaryngologist next week, though. Maybe surgery is an option...

About eight years back, I had an outpatient operation to correct my deviated septum. It worked miracles for my sinus drainage. Six weeks of packed nose well spent.

I have two products for you, which, when used in combination, will change your life.

1) Neti-pot
2) Breathe Right

I had sinus problem my entire life before I began using these two inexpensive, yet brilliant, products.

Try them first, and save yourself a ton of discomfort. I've never been happier.

Similar to the neti pot, but I find the Ayr Saline Rinse kit easier to use.

I quite agree. If you think you will benefit from an occasional sinus rinse, this kit is much easier to use than a neti pot.

Just be careful what you rinse with. Flushing your sinuses is no insignificant thing. Too warm or too cold = very uncomfortable. And if you use water/solution that contains any bacteria or impurities you might only be making the problem worse.

Be sure to do your homework before you try it.

This made me giggle... then frown... How many people who read this forum to you believe would pour a flushing agent into one or more of their orifaces before aquiring a thourough understanding of the process? I would have assumed not many... but you made me question it... then I got to thinking, and it made me sad, given the average intellegence level here compared to the rest of the world.

I read a lot on the subject before I tried it. It wasn't anywhere near as freaky as I thought it would be. Now I kind of enjoy it once in awhile.

As may problems as I have with my sinuses, I just can't get myself to want to try the Neti-pot route.

The thought creeps me out a little.

Oonagh used to get oodles of sinus infections, but since the surgery, it's been smooth sailing. I should just get it done. I am so sick of waking up every morning with half of my head completely clogged.

Maybe its just a fungus or something instead of a bacterial infection, and you can get it all cleared up without surgery.

I use my rinse kit every day. Filtered water, boiled and cooled to the appropriate temp, and I make sure to keep the bottle clean. It's made a huge difference... even when I feel like I'm getting sick my sinuses stay pretty clear.

I don't like wings (in either orifice). But I had chicken tikka masala for breakfast. :)

Saline rinses haven't been much help to me. And, since I'm an asthmatic, any inflammation is extra bad for me.

(In each case this fall/winter, my germ factory of a daughter got me sick.)

Was feeling better, then started getting congested again on Friday. Sore throat from hell today, slight fever earlier, and headache. I had to miss the annual gathering of my college friends this weekend because I feel so lousy. :(

I got 'scoped today. (Camera go down, down the nose...)

Sinus infection, double ear infection, tons of inflammation and an "extremely deviated septum" (i.e., my unique anatomy strikes again!). My hearing test was fine.

I get a CT scan on Thurs., and go back in 2 weeks to find out what my options are. I'm guessing endoscopic surgery. Oh, and another 15 days of antibiotics.

Give me a minute...I'm trying to think of the silver lining here....;)
Sorry you have to go through all of that. I know its not fun, but imagine how good you'll feel when its all over and you're healed up.
Wish you felt better a lot sooner!

Had the CT scan today. The antibiotics are helping. Coughing a lot, which is good even if it's painful.
