I had to say goodbye to a great friend tonight. He was almost 15 years old.

Rest in peace, buddy.

Man...I'm sorry. That is never a fun deal. I'm dreading the day when my two dogs go...it's not far off, sadly. Just remember the good times.

That's never good. Unfortunately, dog-lovers have to deal with this several times throughout their lives. Still, there's something about the first dog that makes it sting. I lost mine a little over a year ago, and I still miss her a lot. Best dog ever.

15 years is a good run, man. Keep some photos around.

Thanks, everyone.

I neglected to mention his name, Cairo. I got him when I was 10 years old and he was just always there, happy. We didn't live together anymore but I thought about him daily. When my mom told me how he went over the phone, I just broke down at my kitchen table. Now I kind of feel like I never realized or showed to him how much he meant, and right now it feels like I'll regret it for a long time.

I know he was a dog, but I feel like I lost a brother.

Dogs (and cats) are a part of our families, Lenas. It's never easy losing a family member.

Cairo, what a cool name Lenas. Dogs really are a part of the family..they give unconditional love. I would love to see more pics of Cairo.
