My first four people this morning fit this pattern.

All of them were here before. All of them had either an order for a study, order for medicine and/or an order for therapy and none of them did anything ordered. All orders were authorized by insurance. All of them complained that they were not better (Doh!)

Someone tell me how it's my fault!

Obviously medication was the answer. There should have been a pill to fix all their problems so they could keep doing all the things that caused them problems in the first place. /eyeroll

Lawyers experience this all the time as well... people like that are usually looking for validation of what they are doing/thinking, not advice/treatment.

Everybody knows you doctors keep the panacea pills in your desk. Why the heck didn't you share those? You're obviously greedy and should be taxed more.

This day is making me almost want to stop practicing. Never thought I would say that.

When you stop practicing, does that mean you're pro?

Don't take it personally. You should know by now, this is how the world is....

You ask the patient why they didn't follow prescribed medicine. You will get a plethroa of excuses.....maybe some "Uh" type responses. Then you tell them importance of following our prescribed methods to help them, and try again.

As for the blame, you simply document the refusal of treatment by the patient(s).

You are there to help them get better, and if the won't help themselves......not much you can do. Lead a horse to water, yada yada yada....

Hope tomorrow is a better day!
