Lately, my games have been crashing on my PC that I got in December. It became clear to me that something was wrong...so I formatted and attempted to reinstall. But I got an error message every time I tried to reinstall. So I downloaded some tools to run some tests and such and all of the tests passed except two memory tests. Took one of the sticks out and everything works. But it angers me that I'm down to 2gb of ram instead of 4 and now I've got to shell out $50 to get back to where I was. I hate my computer.

Have you tried putting it back in and re-running the tests? Sometimes you just need to reseat it.

See if you can't get the manufacturer to RMA it.

Sorry, dude. Look on the bright side, though. A stick of RAM is probably one of the easiest things you can hope to replace.

Yeah, I was semi-relieved that it was the ram instead of something that would have been retarded to replace.

Not to diminish your positions, but I'm always happy when a problem is easily fixable.

My computer problems always are vague and really hard to track down....

Like my desktop that's down for the count with a rootkit backdoor trojan.... My laptop was acting up today and freaked me out for a bit too, but it seems to be back to normal now.

I'm always more paranoid about one of my computers when the other one is down- usually I keep them synced, so that losing one or the other isn't as big of a deal.

Oh, I'm glad it was just one of the sticks of ram and not something I couldn't figure out, but it's still annoying just the same. Means I have to spend my monthly game budget on ram instead of a new game. Not that I can think of any games coming out this month that I am really excited to play.

Yeah, I hear you.

It's one of the reasons I stick with some of the big name RAM manufacturers- a bit more expensive, but lifetime guarantee.
