I swear, you can't go into a building and mess with the switch without someone in that building losing their network connectivity? Really?

Just went into two buildings today after getting calls saying that suchnsuch computer can't access email, CAMS, logon, whatever. I go over, check the jacks, switch with one that is working, and boom computer hums right along. I then ask if anyone from the base has been out messing around with the "big blue box" that contains the switches. They, and the at least previous 4 others, say "yes, someone was by here XXXX days ago".

Bunch of dummies. Can't check behind you to see if you left something unplugged? Can't take the time to see if everyone's system or network printer is online? No, you can't. Then I have to go out, get down the info, submit a ticket to Lackland AFB, and then I and the user get to wait around till the ticket gets back to the base folks for them to decide when to go back out and fix things they screwed up.

Fartknocker!

There's only one real fix for people like that. Cattleprods. Preferably something that you've really bumped the voltage up on, delivered right to the nuts. Repeat as needed until they do it right the first time.

Think of it as job security.
