Post subject:  job hunting
I've been very vocal about my frustration in regards to my work, and I guess I've finally started looking. I've discovered I'm a clutz both at interviews and at personal phone calls... I'm really just not a 20 min phone convo type of person >.<

Long story short, I could be getting a new job at some place I am really looking forward to working at, but I feel horrible for leaving 75% of the people here at my current work and in a way like I'm betraying this company who spent money training me up. I know I shouldn't be, but this nagging feeling, regardless of logic, has been ... well nagging at me >.<

Grrrrr... grown up life sux, I want to go back to high school :cry:

Welcome to adulthood, sweetie. *hugs!*
Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders though and if its time for you to move on then its time for you to move on. Feeling guilt about your perceived disloyalty and abandonment just shows what a kind hearted and good person you are. If you didn't feel bad at all, then maybe you would have something to worry about.

Since you are that frustrated at work, don't think of it as if you are a rat deserting a sinking ship - think of it more like you are an explorer finding a new route to job satisfaction, paving the way for your friends when things get even worse.

By the way, companies know that when they train their people up, some will stay, some will go. Their investment in you is not an anchor to keep you from finding something better, it is a tool for you to work, appreciating their faith in you and wishing you could stay, but you really need more money or some other little thing, like the fool above you fired.

You laugh. I've seen that happen - but of course it was the majority of the IT team handing in their resignations in the same week because of the jerk newly hired to 'manage' them. The jerk failed his probation, for not being a team player. The IT team, for the most part, stayed.

Put some HR data around the area, climb up high and get a very long spear. Then when teh job comes to examine the HR paperwork thrust downward and claim your prize.

I am in the same boat Lydiaa.

I really am dissatisfied, but I like most of the people I work with, and would feel like I am letting them down if I left.

But on the other hand, the realist part of me says -- "self betterment > feeling that you let people down at a job you no longer enjoy."

I just handed in my resignation at my current place and accepted a position at the new job.

Was the hardest phone call I had to make to my boss EVER and your inputs did help with the guilt a little.

LK, my doggie is fine and back to normal, minus some hair. He's quite self conscience and wont sit in any position showing the missing hair, which is quite amusing. Other than that, he's back to his food seeking ways and got a smack on his arse while going through the trash can last night. They don't really change do they hehe... We have stopped putting anything dangerous in our trash, including anything thats small enough to fit into his mouth, so hopefully this'll keep him safe for the moment.

Congrats on the step forward, I know that was difficult, but hopefully very rewarding and satisfying and a good career move for you.
Yay doggie!! Glad he is back to normal, that makes me so happy. Giggling a bit at his self-consciousness though, that is too cute. And yeah, they go back to their antics pretty quick....one day you'll find children are much the same except they will try to guilt you into letting them get away with it whereas the dog knows he is in trouble, hahaha! Hope he stays safe and away from anything that could hurt him. You are such a good doggie mommy!
