Over the past several months I have been trying to lose a little weight and get more fit.

I am exercising on the elipitcal 40 minutes, 3 times per week, and trieda diet low in starch (no rice, potatoes, and little bread). Weight did not change. I had to stop that diet because it pushed my cholesterol up. :P

Went to my doctor yesterday because my blood pressure has been up. He said it was not high enough to require medication, but given my family history of diabetes I needed to lose weight. My friends and the people I work with look at me oddly when I tell them this and say that I don't look overweight. *sigh*

So know I am supposed to do an HOUR of eliptical 4 times a week and weight work the other 3 days. And significantly decrease my intake of everything but vegetables.

So I said, "So. if I am good, I can get parsley and water?"

It's amazing to me how much we've normalized 'overweight' while demonizing it in the media. An actress who gains 20 pounds 'got fat' (she's an 8 now instead of a 4), but when I tell people I need to work off some weight they say 'Oh, you're just voluptuous, you wear it well!'

WTF? Renee Zellweger is a chunk with 20 extra pounds on her emaciated body, but I could lose 50 and still be healthy and you tell me I don't need to worry? Wake up people!

Good thing I like parsley.

I actually had something to say here, but I remember the last time we had a "thicker women rock!!eleventyone!!" thread, so I decided against it.

So to all I say, love the bodies you have, keep yourself happy and do not let others tell you how to look. Love what you are not what others want you to be.

With my Dr.s guidance, I've lost 50+ pounds (so far) following something very similar to this.

It's pretty strict, and you have to carefully manage your calorie intake and monitor your energy levels, but I can attest to the fact that it works if its followed strictly.
